Identify the finish first
Smooth leather, suede, patent finishes, coated leather and specialist skins need different care. Read the maker’s instructions and confirm the material. A treatment suited to one finish may mark another.
Give the bag a place to rest
Store it away from direct sun, heat and damp conditions. Support its shape gently with clean, unprinted tissue if suitable, and avoid overfilling. A breathable dust bag can help reduce surface dust.
Respond gently to moisture
Blot with a clean, soft cloth instead of rubbing. Allow the bag to dry naturally away from heaters. Avoid applying household cleaners, alcohol or improvised treatments. For stains or delicate finishes, speak to a leather specialist.
Treat colour transfer seriously
Dark fabrics can transfer dye to light-coloured bags, especially with friction or moisture. Be mindful of contact with denim and test any approved care product on a discreet area before broader use.
