At a glance

Versace’s Medusa, Greca and Barocco references describe different parts of its decorative vocabulary, not interchangeable bag models. Its Heritage Prints page places Medusa and the Greca pattern within larger compositions and describes New Barocco with classical imagery and acanthus leaves. Choose the motif you prefer, then check the bag’s opening, handles and exact material separately.

Start with the house, then identify the decoration

Versace’s Company Profile dates the house to 1978 and names Gianni Versace as its founder. Its account connects the brand to Italian and Mediterranean design traditions. That background provides context for the classical references described on the official Heritage Prints page.

A product name containing Versace does not tell you whether the surface is printed, embroidered, woven or fitted with metal decoration. First identify what is visible and where it sits on the bag. A central emblem and a repeating fabric pattern create different visual effects even when they refer to the same house.

Medusa and Greca can be parts of one print

The official Medusa Collage description combines Corinthian columns, the Greca pattern and early representations of Medusa in a patchwork composition, with a reference to early-nineties graphics. The page describes that particular print; it does not supply a universal introduction date for every Medusa emblem.

Use Medusa to identify the head motif being discussed and Greca for the geometric pattern reference. A small head-shaped fitting on a plain bag is not evidence that the entire bag uses Medusa Collage. Ask for a close photograph when the exact decorative treatment matters to your choice.

Barocco is more than any gold-coloured detail

Versace’s New Barocco description combines Hellenic imagery and Magna Graecia decoration with Baroque acanthus leaves around a central Medusa. The useful distinction is the whole ornamental composition: gold-coloured hardware on an otherwise plain bag does not establish that print.

When comparing photographs, look at the front, back and sides to see whether the design repeats across panels or remains a single focal detail. This helps you decide how much pattern you want alongside your clothing, without treating a motif name as a material or quality grade.

Compare the tote and bucket as different constructions

KU-402E1550 shows two dark totes with paired handles, central head motifs and lettering. The supplier calls the material denim and records Large 35 × 25 and Small 23 × 19, without units, axes or depth. The photo’s claims about lightness and durability are not treated here as tested performance.

KU-7F2DC85B instead shows an upright bucket reference with a drawstring passing through eyelets, a short handle and a longer strap. The supplier calls it canvas and records 20.21 without units. That dot-separated notation is unresolved; it must not silently become 20 × 21 cm. Neither record establishes the official print or fibre composition.

Match the opening to the things you reach for

For the tote, ask for the top closure, the depth and the handle drop of your chosen size. For the bucket, ask for the usable opening when the drawstring is loosened and for the base dimensions. A tall body may still have a narrow opening, so external size alone cannot settle access to a large wallet.

Quote the SKU and ask for a photograph of the exact decorative finish alongside those measurements. Both catalogue references retain unverified brand identity. The official history explains the design vocabulary; it does not authenticate the offered bags or convert the supplier’s missing units into confirmed facts.

Catalogue references to compare

These photographs and records are separate from the official brand sources. Supplier-listed specifications do not authenticate an item or confirm an exact match to a retail model.

Questions & answers

When was Versace founded?

The official Company Profile states that Gianni Versace founded the house in 1978.

Are Medusa, Greca and Barocco three bag sizes?

No. They refer to decorative imagery or patterns. Check a separate model name and dimensions for the bag itself.

Does a gold-coloured head motif mean Barocco print?

No. The official New Barocco description concerns an ornamental composition with acanthus leaves and a central Medusa, not any isolated metal fitting.

Can the bucket listing’s 20.21 be read as centimetres?

No unit or measurement axes are supplied. Keep the notation as recorded and request complete measurements for KU-7F2DC85B.
